I think he said he wanted to play 10 years and score 50 goals each year. Hard to compare Gretzky, who played in the wide open West, with lots of weaker teams, and Lemieux, who played in an era when there was more expansion and more wide open as well. Bossy also is the only player to score 50-plus goals in each of his first 9 years, and would have done it in his 10th year as well but for his back injuries. No other player ever had the quick release that he had, and his goal in 1982 Finals against Vancouver where he was in mid-air shooting a backhander may be one of the greates goals ever, but testimony to his ability as a scorer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28366906.post-26976345484562328262010-10-15T19:37:45.663-07:002010-10-15T19:37:45.663-07:00I hated Mike Bossy and his team mates for beating ...I hated Mike Bossy and his team mates for beating Montreal out of those many playoff years.

As for all dynasty, comes an end and Mike's started with the end of Montreal domination in the 70's.

Mike Bossy had a too short, but brilliant career.I will always remember his historic goal,as he was tripped and still managed, "God knows how", to hit top corner to win the game, glory and honor.

He had the heart, the talent and the courage that Montreal's scout failed to see.Shame on them...

My best to you Mr.Bossy and all you're family.
Eric Dorion,Gatineau,Qc.CAEric Dorionnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28366906.post-82913005108114837472010-07-28T13:44:46.638-07:002010-07-28T13:44:46.638-07:00Not only as pure a sniper as can be.... he could ...Not only as pure a sniper as can be.... he could take that puck and put it exactly where he needed to. Think it was at something like .801 or .802. (also had the highest ppg average of 2.01 or so at that point too)... In the regular season, he averaged .762 per game -- more than anybody ever in NHL history, and .659 in the playoffs, second only to Lemieux. Only he and Gretzky scored 50 goals in nine seasons, and only he and Gretkzy scored 60 goals in five seasons. Finally, Bossy is the only player to ever score 50 goals in nine consecutive seasons. If you consider these numbers and then take into account that Bossy only played ten seasons -- he is clearly the greatest pure goal scorer of all-time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28366906.post-16075874938592083502007-11-24T10:50:00.000-08:002007-11-24T10:50:00.000-08:00Bossy is the greatest goal scorer of all time and ...Bossy is the greatest goal scorer of all time and no player will match his consistency over an entire career.
